How it Happened
The Bears would grab the early lead, scoring a run in the third and fourth innings to gain the early advantage. After being held quiet to start the night, the Pirates would get on the board in the fourth after a Tommy Manzo sacrifice fly brought home Cavazzoni from third.
The fifth was the loudest inning for The Hall, plating three runs to take the lead for good. With two men on and one out in the inning, Frankie Scrivanic laced a double to right field which allowed a pair of runners to score. With Scrivanic on second, back-to-back singles from Cavazzoni and Acker would bring him home to extend the lead to 4-2.
The sixth inning rally was crucial for Seton Hall starter Steven Svenson, as it allowed him to earn his first win of the season. The righty went six innings in his fifth start of the season, striking out seven and throwing exactly 100 pitches during his outing.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Pirates would add an insurance tally on an RBI single from Gabe Cavazzoni to stretch the lead to three, 5-2. John Higgins would be called upon in the ninth inning, setting down the side in order to earn his fifth save of the year.
