Acker, Christopher Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK – Graduate infielder Ty Acker and sophomore left-handed pitcher Mason Christopher have each been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday.
Acker batted a team-best .538 (7-for-13) over Seton Hall's 3-1 week, helping the Pirates to a pair of wins over Brown after a midweek victory at NJIT. Acker had a pair of hits including a double and an RBI in Sunday's rubber match win over the Bears. The infielder also went a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's matchup with Brown.
Christopher was stellar in his start on Sunday for the Pirates, working six shutout innings and allowing just two hits. The lefty struck out four during his outing as he picked up his second win of the season.
The Pirates return to action on Tuesday afternoon for a midweek non-conference tilt with Wagner at 4 p.m.
