Pirates Host Creighton to Kick Off BIG EAST Play

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – After an undefeated run at the Paladin Invitational, the Seton Hall (6-7) softball team will open up BIG EAST play at home this weekend with a three-game series against the Creighton Blue Jays (6-14). First pitch for Friday's game between the two teams is set for 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Pirates traveled to Greenville, South Carolina, to compete in the Paladin Invitational, hosted by Furman University. After a sluggish start to the season, The Hall's offense set opposing pitching aflame, logging eight or more runs in four of their five games on the way to a perfect 5-0 run over the weekend.

PREVIEWING CREIGHTON

Creighton was one of two teams projected to finish second in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll with 51 points and two first-place votes.
Creighton enters the weekend hitting a combined .271 with 90 RBI, a conference-leading 15 home runs and 34 stolen bases, the second-highest mark in the conference.
Among all eligible BIG EAST hitters, the Blue Jays are the only team to have four players with three or more home runs this season.
Offensively, Creighton has four players hitting above .320, led by Avery Barnard, who is slashing .345/.391/.414 with 8 RBI and 11 runs scored. Zoey Greenwood, meanwhile, is a perfect 8-for-8 on stolen bases this season, ranking her among the top players in the conference in that category.
In the circle, the Blue Jays have struggled this season. Through 20 games, no pitcher on the team has an ERA below 4.30 and has allowed five or more runs in 13 games.

After hitting a blistering .524 with 9 RBI during The Hall's 5-0 run at the Paladin invitational, Angelina Benitez landed BIG EAST Player of the Week honors.
Alongside Benitez, Kyra Kreuscher landed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after recording a 1-0 record with two saves and 10 strikeouts across all five games.
After a pair of wins this past weekend, The Hall moved to 3-1 in one-run games this season.
