Pirates Drop Series Opener to Xavier

South Orange, N.J. – Gabe Cavazzoni laced an RBI double while Ryan Frontera and Frankie Scrivanic each had multi-hit efforts, however the Pirates dropped the opener of their three-game series with Xavier on Friday, 10-1.
How it Happened
The Pirates had opportunities early on to score, but were unable to capitalize. The Hall looked poised to take the lead in the bottom of the second, loading the bases with one out. However, back-to-back strikeouts allowed the Musketeers to escape the jam. Seton Hall put two more runners aboard in the third as it looked to answer Xavier's first run of the game, but the Pirates again could not score.
The Musketeers scored twice more in the fourth and pushed across two more in the sixth to start to pull away. The Pirates got on the board for the first time in the bottom of the sixth, as Cavazzoni extended his hitting streak to 17-straight games with an RBI double to the wall in left field. That was as close as The Hall could get, as the Xavier bullpen slammed the door shut to take the series opener.
