Pirates Continue Play At USF Invitational

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Seton Hall softball team continued play in the USF Invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling to Georgia State by a score of 10-7 before a 4-3 setback to Villanova in nine innings on Saturday night. The Pirates conclude their first run at the tournament on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. against Eastern Michigan.
Game 1 Notes - Georgia State 10, Seton Hall 7
- The Pirates took an early 4-0 lead, but GSU scored twice in the fourth and exploded for seven in the fifth to take a 9-4 lead
- The Hall battled back and got within 9-7 after a three-run sixth, but would get no closer the rest of the way
- Noel Lent (Yaphanic, N.Y.) scored three times for The Hall, coming in to score all three times she reached base
- Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI double, also drawing a walk
- Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) had a pair of hits and two RBIs
- Earning her first start of the year at shortstop, Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.) went 1-for-2 with her first career RBI
- Ragen Reddick (Middlesex, N.J.) went 2-for-2 after coming on as a pinch-hitter
- The Hall went 5-for-12 (.417) with two outs and hit .368 (7-19) with runners on base
- The Pirates accumulated four two-out RBIs in the setback

- The Pirates took an early 1-0 lead before the Wildcats jumped ahead 3-1 in the third inning
- That lead remained until the seventh inning, when Walkden launched a two-run home run to level the contest
- VU eventually came away with the walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth
- The contest marked the first extra innings game for The Hall this season
- Lent, Valerie Suto (Mercerville, N.J.) and Walkden all had multi-hit efforts
- Fischer went 8.1 innings and did not allow an earned run in the longest pitching performance of her career
