DELAND, FLA. – Junior Andrew Politi (Long Valley, N.J.) struck out the side with runners in scoring position in both the eighth and ninth innings and the Seton Hall baseball team edged Stetson, 6-5, on Wednesday.

The right-hander entered the game with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning with The Hall clinging to a 6-5 lead. Politi then struck out the side to send the Pirates into the ninth still in front. In the bottom of the ninth inning, he gave up a pair of singles around his fourth strikeout, but bounced back to strikeout both Austin Bogert and Andrew MacNeil looking to end the game.

The Pirates jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning thanks to some wild Stetson pitching. The Hatters walked six batters in the inning, forcing in three Pirate runs. Al Molina (Freehold, N.J.) had an infield single to plate the Pirates' fourth run of the inning.

Inside the Numbers:

Seton Hall starter Chris Morris (Matawan, N.J.) allowed just one earned run over 4.2 innings. He struck out four and walked five.
The Pirates walked a season-high 11 times.
Molina was the lone Pirate with two hits. He went 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Junior Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two walks and a double.
Chris Villa (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Matt Toke (Three Bridges, N.J.) also reached base three times apiece.
Stetson forced in a fourth Pirate run with a walk in the fifth inning.
Joe Poduslenko (Glen Mills, Pa.) singled in a run in the eighth inning.

Reliever Rick DeVito (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned his first career victory.
Stetson left 18 men on base, the most by a Seton Hall opponent since Louisville left 18 men on base on March 28, 2009.
The combined 22 walks in the game are the most by Seton Hall and its opponent since the Pirates and Saint Peter's combined to walk 25 batters on March 18, 1999.
Seton Hall improves to 4-2 all-time against Stetson.
