
Pirates Sweep Two On Day Two of UTSA Classic

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The Seton Hall softball team (3-1) picked up a pair of wins on Saturday during day two of the UTSA Softball Classic at Roadrunner Field. The Hall won a wild 10-8 thriller against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in its first game of the day, then took down host UTSA by a score of 3-1 in the nightcap.
Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) and Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) both continued their hot offensive starts to the season, combining for nine hits and seven RBIs in the two contests from the middle of the Seton Hall lineup. In game two, Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) spun her second complete game in as many days and struck out six to improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Hall closes its run at the UTSA Softball Classic on Sunday morning when it takes on Southern Illinois at 10 a.m. (EST).

Game 1 Notes – Seton Hall 10, Texas A&M Corpus Christi 8
- The Pirates came away with the win in a wild game that featured five lead changes and saw the squads combine for 27 hits and 18 runs
- The Hall took an early lead with a two-run home run from Walkden, her first of the season and the 42nd of her career (17 shy of the program record)
- The Islanders responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and another in the bottom of the second to pull ahead 4-2
- The two sides traded runs through the middle innings, before The Hall came to bat in the seventh with the score level at 8-8
- In the top of the seventh, Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) scored on a muffed throw before Arteaga in a run to make it 10-8, Pirates
- In the bottom of the frame, Madison Strunk (Adkins, Texas) took over in the circle with one on and no outs before retiring the next three batters to notch a save
- All nine Pirate starters recorded a hit in the triumph and the top three in the order combined for six runs scored
- Walkden finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Arteaga went 2-for-3 and knocked in two
- In a stat line full of threes, Wallace had three hits, three runs scored and three stolen bases
- In the circle, Mo Sobel (Newbury Parks, Calif.) was credited with the win after tossing 5.0 innings in relief
- The Pirates did all their scoring in the top of the third, pushing three across in the frame that proved to be all the run support Camp needed
- Walkden got the scoring started with an RBI single, before Arteaga knocked in a run with a double and Alyssa Prukop (Coto de Caza, Calif.) made it 3-0 with a sacrifice fly
- Camp cruised through the middle innings, going unscathed until UTSA pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh
- The Roadrunners had the bases loaded with two away in the final frame, but Camp induced a game-ending pop-up to secure the win
- Overall on the day, Camp fired 7.0 innings and allowed a run on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts
- The Hall finished with an 8-7 edge in hits, getting three from Arteaga and two from Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.)
- The Pirates went 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position, while Camp held UTSA to a 1-for-9 maark
