The Hall Falls Twice At Bearkat Classic

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Seton Hall softball team (4-4) dropped a pair of contests in its final day of play at the Bearkat Classic at Sam Houston State. After a one-run setback to Wichita State, The Hall fell in a 10-0 decision against No. 4 Washington.

The Pirates are back in action next weekend when they travel to North Carolina to take part in the UNCG Invitational.

- The Pirates got out to a strong start, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a home run from Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas)
- The Hall pushed its advantage to 3-0 in the top of the second by way of an RBI single for Ragen Reddick (Middlesex, N.J.)
- Wichita State got a run back in the bottom of the third, then put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take their first lead
- All three of WSU's runs in the bottom of the fifth were unearned and came with two away
- Both sides recorded seven hits in the contest, but The Hall was felled by three errors
- Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with a triple in the setback
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) took the tough-luck loss for The Hall, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs, only one earned
- It was Camp's third complete game through four starts
- Walkden's home run was her second of the season and the 43rd of her career, 16 shy of the program record
- The Huskies scored in each of the first four innings in an eventual run-rule victory
- Washington held an 11-2 edge in hits, while The Hall committed four errors
- Freshmen Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) and Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) both recorded singles in the setback
- Walkden drew her 97th career walk in the first inning, five shy of the program record
- Beaver also drew a walk in the fourth inning
- The fourth-ranked Huskies mark the highest ranked foe the Pirates have faced under sixth-year head coach Paige Smith
