
Pirates Split Two On Day One At UNCG Invitational

In The Hall's first game of the day, the Pirates were down two and down to their final strike before am Alannah Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. In extras it was Sara Foster (Laguna Beach, Calif.) who came up with the walk-off hit. In game two of the day, The Hall rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to briefly take the lead in an eventual 12-5 setback.
Game 1 – Seton Hall 3, Appalachian State 2 (Eight Innings)
- How it Happened
- Appalachian State got on the board in the top of the third inning with a two-out, two-run single
- That would be the only offense of the game until the bottom of the seventh when The Hall rallied to tie
- With two away in the final frame, Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) came up with a pinch-hit single before Basile pinch-hit for her first at bat of the season
- After working a marathon 10-pitch at bat, Basile won the battle launched a game-tying home run to center to level the score at 2-2
- Mo Sobel (Newbury Parks, Calif.) set the Mountaineers down in the top of the eighth, then Foster came through in the bottom of the frame with a single up the middle to plate Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) and walk off

- Both sides recorded eight hits in the contest
- The win came in The Hall's first extra innings contest of the year
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) got the start for The Hall and fired 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts
- Sobel got the win with 2.0 scoreless innings in relief
- Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) notched a sixth-inning double, her third of the year and the 39th of her career. She moves into second in program history and nine shy of the SHU all-time record
- How it Happened
- The Spartans scored four times in the bottom of the first inning to build an early 4-0 lead
- The Hall got a run back in the top of the second with a home run from Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.), then scored three runs in the third inning to level the score at 4-4
- Foster briefly put The Hall ahead with an RBI double in the top of the fourth
- The Spartans answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and put a five-spot up in the bottom of the sixth to put the contest out of reach

- UNCG held a 15-7 edge in hits, while SHU recorded the lone two errors of the contest
- Barracato finished 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs
- Four of The Hall's five RBIs came with two outs
What's Next
The Pirates will take on both Appalachian State and UNCG again tomorrow, squaring off with the Mountaineers at 9:30 a.m. before a 2:30 p.m. clash with the Spartans.
