
Camp's Gem Helps Hall Split On Day Two At UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight day, the Seton Hall softball team (6-6) split a pair of contests at the UNCG Invitational. On day two Saturday, The Hall dropped a 4-0 decision to Appalachian State before coming up with a late 2-1 win against the host Spartans in their second game of the day. The Pirates will conclude action in Greensboro tomorrow at 9 a.m. against ACC foe Virginia.
The Pirate offense was stymied in game one, but The Hall nearly rallied back and brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning of a 4-0 run setback. In game two an Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) home run helped back a stellar complete game outing from Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) in a 2-1 victory over the hosts.

The Hall concludes its run at the UNCG Invitational when it takes on Virginia at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

- How it Happened
- The Mountaineers jumped ahead early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first by way of a pair of run-scoring singles
- Appalachian State added another run in the bottom of the fourth, scoring unearned on a throwing error
- The Hall loaded the bases in the top of the seventh and had the tying run at the plate, but App State hurler Annaleise Kennedy induced a game-ending groundout to finish off a complete game shutout effort

- The Mountaineers finished with a 9-2 edge in hits, while The Hall drew five walks
- Walkden and Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) both notched singles for the Pirates
- Allender's knock was the first of her career
- Kennedy went the distance and did not allow a run, walking five and striking out three
- Five different Pirates drew a base on balls in the setback
- Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) turned in a solid relief effort, allowing only one unearned run in 4.0 innings

- How it Happened
- Neither time got on the board until the fourth inning, when Walkden got the scoring started with a solo home run
- The Spartans answered in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI sacrifice bunt
- In the top of the seventh, Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) notched a one-out single and Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) reached on a fielder's choice. Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) kept the inning alive with a walk, before a pair of wild pitches allowed Barracato to score the go-ahead run and give The Hall a 2-1 lead
- Camp finished off the Spartans in the bottom of the seventh with a 1-2-3 frame to cap a stellar complete game performance

- Camp fired 7.0 brilliant innings, scattering four hits and striking out nine without walking a batter
- The victory for The Hall came despite recording only two hits
- Walkden's home run was her third of the season and the 44th of her career, 15 away from the program record
- Camp has gone the distance in four of her six starts this season
- In 39.1 innings, the sophomore hurler holds a 39:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio
- The Hall moves to 1-1 all-time against UNCG, with both meetings coming this weekend
