Â
McLinskey pitched 3.1 innings and scattered just two hits with a career-high five strikeouts and no walks. Junior Dylan Verdonk (Losser, Netherlands) came on in relief of McLinskey, and also pitched very well. Verdonk didn't allow a hit in a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
Â
Santorelli continued his strong start to the season, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.Â
Â
The Pirates took an early lead with single runs in the top of the first and second innings, both with two outs. Santorelli's RBI single put the Pirates on the scoreboard in the first, while an RBI single by Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) gave The Hall a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.
Â
Turning Point:
Trailing 2-1, Florida Atlantic took control in the bottom of the third inning. The Owls sent 14 batters to the plate and erupted for nine runs on eight hits, to turn a 2-1 deficit to a commanding 10-2 lead. Seton Hall starter Andrew Politi (Long Valley, N.J.) allowed six of the runs before handing the ball to Matt Ponsiglione (Staten Island, N.Y.), who had similar troubles. McLinskey was brought on to record the final out of the inning.
Â
Due to heavy rain with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the game was called. It will not resume.
