BOCA RATON, FLA. – Seton Hall pitchers allowed six runs over the first two innings, and the Pirates couldn't recover in a 10-0 loss at Florida Atlantic in the series finale on Sunday.

Sophomore starter Noah Thompson (Frisco, Texas) was relieved after only five batters into the first inning. The right-hander allowed a walk, three straight singles, and then a second walk before leaving the game with the bases loaded. Sophomore Blake Espinal (Bronx, N.Y.) entered and induced a ground-ball double play to limit the damage, but FAU ended up scoring four runs in the opening inning for the second time in three games.

Espinal remained in the game, and allowed two runs in the bottom of the second inning, but pitched very well thereafter. The left-hander ended up tossing 5.2 innings of relief and allowed only two earned runs.

Offensively, the Pirates were unable to break through against four Florida Atlantic pitchers. The Owls' Vince Coletti earned the victory with five innings of shutout baseball.

Inside the Numbers:

Senior Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the lone Pirate with multiple hits. He went 2-for-4.
Espinal pitched well in relief, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings pitched in a no decision.
Sophomore Corey Sawyer (Kearny, N.J.) tossed a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout.
Seton Hall had five hits, while Florida Atlantic had 12. The Pirates committed three errors, while FAU had only one.
Seton Hall left six men on base, while Florida Atlantic left five.
Both teams turned two double plays.
Florida Atlantic's Vince Coletti earned the victory. He allowed just one earned run over 5.0 innings.

The loss drops the Pirates to 5-8 on the young season, while Florida Atlantic improves to 11-4.
Seton Hall falls to 2-6 all-time against Florida Atlantic.
It's the first time the Pirates have been swept in a three-game series since falling to Xavier, May 6-7, 2016.
