Pirates Drop Two At Under Armour Showcase

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Seton Hall softball team continued its 11-game spring break trip on Friday afternoon, dropping a pair of contests to South Dakota State and Loyola Chicago at the USF Series Under Armour Showcase. The Hall has three games remaining on its Sunshine State swing.Â

What's Ahead
The Pirates have two more on tap at the Under Armour Showcase on Saturday, taking on Northern Kentucky at 9 a.m. and Lehigh at 2 p.m.Â

- The Jackrabbits took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but The Hall pulled even with an RBI single from Sara Foster (Long Beach, Calif.)
- SDSUÂ would re-take the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth before adding three more over the final two innings to put the contest away
- The Hall was out-hit 15-4 in the setback
- In addition to Foster's run-scoring knock, Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.), Alyssa Prukop (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) added singles
- Brianna Wallace (Fort Worth, Texas) stole her team-high eighth base oand is 8-for-8 on the basepaths this season
- The Ramblers ripped off seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and capped their scoring with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to enact the run-rule
- Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) went 2-for-2 and drew a walk for The Hall in the setback
- The Pirates were out-hit 10-4, with each hit coming from a freshman
- Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) and Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) had singles along with their classmate Barracato's two knocks
