Pirates Bat Around Three Times in 28-Run Outburst

Seton Hall batted around in a nine-run second inning, a five run fourth inning and an eight-run eighth inning. Their 28 runs and 20 hits are both season highs. Due to the length of many of the half innings, the game was called after eight innings due to darkness.
Four Pirates reached base at least four times with senior Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) leading the way. Alescio reached base in all five at bats before being replaced in the bottom of the sixth. He walked four times, hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs.
Senior Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) recorded a team-best four RBIs, while both Sebastiano Santorelli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) and Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) scored a team-high four runs apiece.
Seton Hall starter Tyler Burnham (East Brunswick, N.J.) had some control issues at the start of the contest, allowing the first five Princeton batters reach base, three by a free pass, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. The fifth batter, Princeton's Conor Nolan, looped a single over shortstop to drive in a pair of runs and give the Tigers an early 3-0 lead.
Turning Point:
After Princeton struck for three runs right away, the Pirates responded with their biggest offensive inning of the season. The Hall sent 13 men to the plate, erupting for nine runs on seven hits to turn a three-run deficit into a commanding 9-3 lead. Among several big hits in the inning, Ramiz had a two-run double to left-center field, and freshman Casey Dana (Montgomery, N.Y.) hit a towering two-run home run well over the left field fence. Hood went 2-for-2 with an RBI double in the second inning alone.
