McCarthy was brilliant, allowing just one run over a season-high seven innings with four strikeouts and four walks to even his record at 3-3 on the season.
Dadona collected a team-high three hits, including his three-run home run.
Turning Point:
After Butler struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Seton Hall offense erupted for five runs in the top of the second. Senior Mike Alescio (Fair Haven, N.J.) led off with a walk, and advanced to second on a single by Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.). After Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) successfully bunted them both into scoring position, Alescio came home on a throwing error by Butler's first baseman on Casey Dana's (Montgomery, N.Y.) pop out. Sophomore Christian Del Castillo (Miami, Fla.) followed with an RBI single down the left field line to put The Hall up 2-1. After Conor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) reached on Butler's second error of the inning, Dadona delivered a three-run home run to extend The Hall's lead to 5-1.
Al Molina's solo home run in the top of the fifth inning put the Pirates up, 6-1.
Seton Hall's bullpen was strong again as Corey Sawyer (Kearny, N.J.) and Matt Leon (Bethlehem, Pa.) combined to allow just one hit over the final two innings. Leon struck out the side in the ninth.
