
Walkden Hits 50th Home Run, SHU Falls Twice At VU

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Seton Hall softball team (18-31, 4-13 BIG EAST) dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Villanova (25-19-2, 9-5 BIG EAST) on Saturday at the Villanova Softball Complex.
In game one, Villanova scored in each of the first four frames of a 15-7 victory in six innings. Alexis Walkden (Cibolo, Texas) delivered her 50th career home run for The Hall in the setback. Game two saw Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) hit a game-tying home run in the fourth inning of an eventual 9-2 setback.

The Hall will close its series at Villanova on Sunday afternoon, with a single game set to begin at 12 p.m. and air on the BIG EAST Digital Network and FOX Sports GO app.

How it Happened
- The Pirates wasted no time getting on the board, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first
- Villanova answered in the bottom of the first, with a late call reversal extending the inning before a three-run home run to give VU a 3-2 lead
- Down three runs, The Hall jumped back ahead by scoring four runs in the top of the third to go up 6-5
- Walkden got the scoring started in the third with a mammoth solo home run, before two-out run-scoring hits from Allender and Emily Supercynski (Aurora, Colo.)
- Again VU answered, scoring four times in the bottom of the third and three times in the fourth to go up 12-7
- The Wildcats would end it in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run home run to enact the run-rule
- The Pirates were out-hit 11-8 and committed four errors versus one for VU
- Walkden's milestone 50th home run made her the second play in program history to hit the half-century mark in long balls, joining all-time leader Laura Taylor (59)
- Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) hit her second home run of the season in the top of the fourth, the 10th of her career
- Eight different Pirates notched one hit for The Hall
- Six different players recorded an RBI for Seton Hall, with Supercynski notching two
Game 2 – Villanova 9, Seton Hall 2
How it Happened
- Villanova scored single runs in the first and third innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead
- After a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth, Allender leveled the score with a two-run home run
- The tie was short-lived, with VU re-taking the lead in the bottom of the fourth by way of a three-run home run
- The Wildcats went on to score four in the bottom of the sixth to effectively ice the contest
- The Pirates were out-hit 12-6, with VU committing the game's only two errors
- The Hall left nine runners on base in the setback
- The home run for Allender was the first of the freshman's career
- Destini Peck (Riverside, Calif.) doubled in the fifth inning, recording a two-bagger in each end of Saturday's doubleheader
- Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) finished the game 2-for-4
- Pirate batters drew a total of four walks, including two for Walkden
