PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a 3-under-par, 68, in the opening round of the 2018 Princeton Invitational and has the Seton Hall men's golf team tied for third place entering Saturday's final round.
Yeom continued his dominant junior year with four birdies and 13 pars in round one for his sixth sub-par round in 10 rounds this spring. He is currently tied for second place among 69 individual golfers, and is only two strokes behind the leader, Cornell's Mike Graboyes.
Collectively, the Pirates are in prime position to repeat as Princeton Invitational champions. The Hall trails Cornell and Pennsylvania by only one stroke entering round two. The Pirates shot an even-par, 284, today.
Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) is also vying for the individual title. The sophomore fired a 1-under-par, 70, in round one, and is currently tied for fifth place overall. It's Chalk's ninth career round under par. Like Yeom, he only had one blemish on his round, recording two birdies and 15 pars.
Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) led the Pirates with five birdies, but had double-bogeys on back-to-back holes to limit his round. Currently, he's tied for 22nd place with a 2-over-par, 73. One of the players tied with Tait is classmate Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas), who also shot a 2-over-par, 73.
Senior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) rounded out the Pirates scoring on Friday with a 5-over-par, 76.
