Toke's Two-Run Double Lifts Pirates to 5-3 Win

Seton Hall wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, using three walks to score two runs off Georgetown starter Brent Killem in the first inning. A bases loaded walk by Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) forced in the first run of the game, and an RBI groundout by Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) put The Hall up, 2-0.
After Georgetown cut the Pirate lead in half in the bottom of the first, McCarthy settled down and retired the Hoyas without a threat in the next two innings. In the bottom of the fourth however, Georgetown's Austin Shirley hit a two-run home run off reliever Andrew Politi (Long Valley, N.J.) to tie the game at three.
Both teams had their opportunities to blow the game open offensively, but both stranded the bases full. Georgetown had the bases loaded with no outs against Corey Sawyer (Kearny, N.J.) in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the left-hander4 struck out back-to-back batters and induced an inning-ending ground ball. The Pirates loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth, but Georgetown's Nick Morreale recorded back-to-back strikeouts to retire the side.
Turning Point:
With the game tied at three in the top of the seventh inning, the Pirates conjured a little two-out magic. Senior Al Molina (Freehold, N.J.) walked to lead off and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After Ramiz was intentionally walked, Toke sent a two-out double into the left field corner to drive in two runs.
Inside the Numbers:
- McCarthy pitched well in his three innings of work. The senior allowed one run over three innings with four strikeouts and no walks in a no decision.
- Toke reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs.
- Senior Matt Leon (Bethlehem, Pa.) tossed a perfect ninth inning for his 11th save of the season.

- Seton Hall left nine men on base, while the Georgetown left seven.

- The victory improves Seton Hall to 26-18-1 overall and 12-4 in the BIG EAST, while Georgetown falls to 25-27 overall and 8-8 in conference play.
- The Pirates' 12 BIG EAST wins are their most since the conference reconfigured prior to the start of the 2014 season.
- Seton Hall's win solidifies the 2018 BIG EAST Championship field. The Pirates are the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 Butler in Thursday's first round at 6:30 p.m. No. 1 St. John's will face No. 4 Georgetown earlier in the day.

- Seton Hall reached double-figures in hits for the 16th time this season.
- Leon's save is the 15th of his career, which ranks second-most in Seton Hall history. Isaac Pavlik is the career record-holder with 22 saves.
