
The Hall Heads To Texas For Mean Green Classic

DENTON, Texas – The Seton Hall softball team (2-3) continues early season action this weekend when it heads to the Lonestar State to take part in the Mean Green Classic hosted by North Texas. The Hall will play four games in three days at UNT's Lovelace Stadium, taking on Northwestern State (twice), the host North Texas and Arkansas Pine Bluff. Action kicks off against Northwestern State on Friday.
The Pirates are coming off the Marucci Desert Classic last weekend in Las Vegas, picking up wins over Southern Utah and North Dakota in the tournament hosted by UNLV. Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) had a huge opening weekend for The Hall and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after hitting .571 in five contests.
The trip this weekend is a homecoming for The Hall's six Texans: Alyssa Abron (Sulphur Springs), Baylee Allender (Rosharon), Chrisa Head (Lewisville), Katherine Matthys (Spring Branch), Madison Strunk (Adkins) and Briana Wallace (Fort Worth).

The Pirates will be back in action Feb. 22-24 at East Carolina's Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.

- The Pirates saw four batters hit .300 or better in opening weekend action, with Arteaga joined by Emily Supercynski (.333), Payton Beaver (.308) and Destini Peck (.308)
- Arteaga and Allender both homered for the Pirates in Vegas
- The Pirates got five RBIs apiece from Arteaga and Peck, while Supercynski added four
- Reganne Camp (Bloomington, Ill.) picked up a pair of wins in the circle, totaling 17 strikeouts in 14.0 innings and tossing a complete game
- Opponents hit only .233 against Camp and .241 against rookie Kelsey Gumm (Spokane, Wash.)
- The Lady Demons are 2-2 on the season after notching wins over Boise State and Boston College at the Texas Classic in Austin
- Cayla Jones and Kaitlyn St. Clair are tied for the team-high with a .300 average, while Riley Cantrell leads the squad with four RBIs
- Bronte Rhoden has tossed a team-high 11.1 innings and holds a 2-0 record with a 1.85 ERA
- The host Mean Green enter the weekend with a 4-1 record after a strong run at the Texas A&M Tournament last week
- Katie Clark leads a potent UNT offense with a .565 average and is one of three players to knock in seven runs on the season
- North Texas pitching combined to compile a 1.16 ERA in 38.2 innings over the opening weekend
- The Golden Lions will be playing for the first time his weekend in Denton
