What Happened:
Seton Hall wasted little time getting on the scoreboard for a second straight day. Huntzinger singled through the right side to lead off the game, and Shedler-McAvoy followed with an opposite-field, two-run home run to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead just two batters into the game.
After Monmouth cut the Pirates' lead in half in the bottom of the second, The Hall got the run back in the top of the third on an RBI single by Dana. In the bottom of the fourth, the Hawks again scored a single run off Pirate starter Noah Thompson (Frisco, Texas), but this time it was Del Castillo with a two-out RBI single in the top of the fifth to again put The Hall up by two, 4-2.
In the top of the sixth inning, The Hall erupted for five runs to put the game away. Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) was hit by a pitch to lead off. Holdorf sacrificed him to second, but reached on a throwing error by the Monmouth catcher. With one out, Grober lined a single to right field to score Hood, but the Hawks' right field booted the ball, which allowed Holdorf to cross home plate with Seton Hall's sixth run. Two batters later, Shedler-McAvoy's hustle-double scored Grober for the third Pirate run of the inning. Del Castillo capped the sixth with a two-run home run to put The Hall up, 9-2.
