
Pirates Fall Despite Festa's Strong First Start

MIAMI, FLA. – Freshman David Festa (Verona, N.J.) allowed only one hit over five scoreless innings in his first collegiate start, but the Seton Hall baseball team fell in the series opener to Florida International, 1-0, on Friday.
Festa, pitching on his 19th birthday, allowed just one hit over five innings, struck out eight batters and walked three in a no decision.
The Seton Hall offense struggled against Panther ace Logan Allen. The Pirates mustered just two hits off the lefty, a leadoff single by junior Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) in the third inning and a one-out single by Christian Del Castillo (Miami, Fla.) in the ninth.
What Happened:
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, FIU's Adan Fernandez hit a solo home run over the center field fence for the only run of the game.

Seton Hall will return to action tomorrow when it continues its three-game series against FIU in Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

- Festa has yet to allow an earned run this season. He has made four appearances, including one start, and totaled 11 scoreless innings. He has struck out 14 and walked six.
