LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – The Seton Hall softball team dropped two games on Saturday at the Golden State Softball Classic to San Jose State and Loyola Marymount, respectively.

Game One: San Jose State 3 – Seton Hall 0
The Pirates couldn't get the bats going as they dropped a low-scoring affair to the Spartans.

How it Happened

San Jose State struck first with a solo home run in the bottom of the second to get on the board.
The Spartans singled home another run in the fourth and then again in the fifth to make the score 3-0, where it would stay for the final inning and a half.

Notes and Numbers

Kelsey Gumm (Spokane, Wash.) started the game going five strong innings with only two earned runs.
Kiana Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.) picked up the sole extra base hit for the Pirates, a double, her second of the year.
The Spartans outhit the Pirates 6-3.

Game 2 – Loyola Marymount 6 – Seton Hall 4
Pirates rally in the seventh but not enough to overcome the lions.

How it Happened

Marisa Pla (San Clemente, Calif.) got the Pirates going with an RBI single in the second inning.
LMU answered with six runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
In the seventh Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) doubled in a run to bring the score to 6-3.
Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) kept the Pirate rally alive with an RBI single before the Lions picked up the 6-5 victory.

Notes and Numbers

Pandolfo had two doubles in the game to boost her season total to a team-leading five.
Despite the deficit on the scoreboard, the Pirates outhit the Lions 11-6.
Seton Hall had a game-high for stolen bases this year with three bases.

The Pirates will continue play in Lake Elsinore, Calif., with their fifth and final game coming against Utah State at 12 p.m. tomorrow at the Golden State Softball Classic.
