GULF SHORES, ALA. – Senior Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) shot an even-par, 72, in round two of the Craft Farms Intercollegiate to lead the Seton Hall men's golf team to a 12th place team standing entering Tuesday's final round.
Â
Acevedo used three birdies and a team-best 12 pars to fuel his strong second round. For the tournament, he is tied for 38th place with a 6-over-par, 78-72-150.
Â
As a team, the Pirates shaved 11 strokes off their first-round score to finish with a 7-over-par, 295. Through 12 holes today, The Hall was 6-under-par, but it faded late, shooting a combined 13-over-par over the last six. Through two rounds, Seton Hall is 25-over-par, with a 306-295-601. It's 25 strokes behind the team leader, Cincinnati, with 18 holes remaining.
Â
For a second straight day, the Pirates performed especially well on the par-5, No. 3 hole. Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) eagled the hole, while the other three Pirate golfers all birdied it. Yesterday, the hole garnered two birdies and two pars. For the tournament, The Hall is an astonishing 7-under-par on the No. 3 hole alone.
Â
The top Pirate competitor for the tournament continues to be Ramachandran, who used an eagle and two birdies to fuel a 3-over-par, 75, on Monday. For the tournament, he's tied for 29th place among 75 individual golfers with a 4-over-par, 73-75-148. Illinois State's David Perkins leads all individuals at 7-under-par.

THE COURSE:
Featuring rolling fairways and large undulating greens, Cotton Creek at Craft Farms Golf Resort is very playable from the forward tees and a true championship challenge of over 7,000 yards from the tips. True to its Palmer design, this traditional 18-hole masterpiece was laid out to challenge rather than intimidate, with numerous risk/reward opportunities throughout.
Â
Golf Digest has consistently rated Cotton Creek as one of the Best Places to Play! This 4-star course, located in Gulf Shores, Alabama, features tree-lined, rolling fairways surrounded by lakes. The lush course is challenging for low handicap players but with five staggered tee boxes, it is a fun challenge for golfers at any level.
Â
Considering a risky shot to go for the green? Your bravery will be rewarded with the large undulating greens. The 6th Hole is the most challenging on Cotton Creek. With a well-placed tee shot over water to the fairway, the 2nd shot also requires a smart swing over more water to the green. A birdie on this hole delights anyone who rises to meet its challenge!
