
Pirates Host Fordham, Lehigh in Home Openers

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will host three games this weekend to open up Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field for the 2021 season.
First, the Pirates will take on Fordham on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Then the Pirates will welcome in Lehigh for a doubleheader on Sunday. First game is set for noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates are coming off their opening weekend of the season at the Gamecock Invitational. Seton Hall faced tough competition taking on the likes of 2019 Big South Champion Longwood, #16 Duke and host-school #18 South Carolina.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
The department will allow two parents or guardians of each Seton Hall student-athlete to attend an outdoor competition that is hosted on campus, including games at Owen T. Carroll Field for men's and women's soccer, Mike Sheppard Sr. Stadium for baseball and Mike Sheppard Sr. Field for softball.
Unfortunately, due to capacity limits, this policy does not apply towards parents or guardians of members of the opposing team or members of the general public.

The Pirates will stay home to host a midweek game against Stony Brook at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.

- The Rams are coming off their first action of the season on Friday, a 5-4 home win over Army.
- In their lone game this season, Fordham came back from a 4-0 deficit in the sixth to score five-unanswered runs and win the ballgame.
- The Rams lead the all-time series 13-12-1. These two programs last met in 2018, a 9-2 Ram victory.
- The Mountain Hawks opened up their season with a doubleheader sweep over Sacred Heart last Sunday.
- In total, Lehigh outscored Sacred Heart 18-2 over the two games.
- These two teams met four times in 2019 with each team taking two games apiece.
- In the season opener against Longwood, freshman Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) racked up eight strikeouts over six innings. The eight strikeouts for Carr were the most in game by a Pirate pitcher since Reganne Camp racked up 12 punchouts against Butler on April 7, 2019.
- Darby Pandolfo's (Massapequa, N.Y.) home run against Longwood was the 18th of her career moving her into 12th place alone on the all-time program leader list.
- Hailey Arteaga's (Upland, Calif.) RBI in the first game against #18 South Carolina was her 109th as a Pirate and moves her into a tie with Kristen Kaelin for sixth all-time.
- Cadyn Ehrenberg (Fremont, Wisc.) fired 6.1 innings of relief with one earned run in the weekend finale against #16 Duke.
