South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team dropped two games to Villanova on Saturday. In Game Two, senior Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) tied the all-time program record for doubles with a two-bagger in the third inning. Barracato ties Katie Pierce with 48 career doubles.

How it Happened

The Wildcats got on the board early with an RBI single in the first to go up, 1-0.
Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) held the Villanova offense in-check through the first five innings only allowing one run on four hits while striking out three.
The Wildcats would go on to score nine runs in the sixth to take game one in six innings.

GAME TWO

How it Happened

The Wildcats picked up solo home runs in both the third and fourth to go up 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth.
Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) tied things up at two with a double to right center to score Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) and Kiana Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.).
Villanova would go on to score five runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to go up 9-2.
Wingo drove in Kiana Tate after she picked up a double for her second hit of the ballgame for the Pirates third run.
The Wildcats would tack on a run in the seventh to take game two.

Notes and Numbers

Barracato and Kiana Tate each had two-hit ballgames in game two.
Allender's two RBIs were her fifth and sixth of the season.
Taylor Soanes (Missouri City, Texas) picked up her first career hit in game two.
The Pirates now have 46 doubles through 25 games on the season.
