Pirates Walk Off Villanova in Thrilling 10-Inning Win

South Orange, N.J. – In dramatic fashion, the Seton Hall softball team fought back from their last out on three separate occasions to rally for a walk off victory in the 10^th inning. Fittingly, on senior day, all six seniors honored delivered in big moments.

Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) and Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) each tallied with four hits. Not to be overshadowed in the wild victory, Barracato's double in the third broke the all-time program record for doubles with her 49^th two-bagger in her career.

Jaden Tate also picked up two knocks including a double. Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) and Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) both went deep for The Hall and Payton Beaver (Lake Stevens, Wash.) got a plate appearance in a touching moment.

How it Happened

The Wildcats got on the board first with three runs in the top of the third.
The Pirates responded with a Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) RBI double in the fourth, to make it a 3-1 ballgame.

In the fifth, Pandolfo tied things at three with a two-run home run to left, her team-leading fourth long ball of the season.

The Wildcats jumped back on top with two runs in the sixth to go up 5-3.
Down to their final out, Carr delivered with her second RBI double of the afternoon. A batter later, Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) tied the game with a sacrifice fly to knot things at seven.

In the eighth, Villanova plated three runs to go up 8-5.
The Pirates would again respond with three runs of their own. Arteaga singled home Barracato to cut the lead to two. Allender then tied the game with a two-run shot to left field, her first of the season and 21^st in her career.

The back-and-forth game continued with Villanova scoring a single run in the 10^th. In the bottom half of the inning, Carr picked up her third RBI double to tie the game at nine. With the bases loaded and two outs, Carr scored on a wild pitch to walk things off for The Hall.

Notes and Numbers

The Pirates amassed a season-high 18 hits with eight different Pirates earning knocks.
Cadyn Ehrenberg (Fremont, Wisc.) picked up the win in relief tossing three innings of one-run ball.
The Pirates also had season-highs in doubles (7) and home runs (2).

What's Next
The Pirates will hit the road for its final two BIG EAST matchups of the regular season. First, The Hall will matchup with UConn for three games between May 5&6 before heading up to Providence for a three game-set over the weekend.
