Storrs, Conn. – The Seton Hall softball team split a doubleheader with UConn on Thursday, winning game one before falling in game two. Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) pitched a complete game for the win in game one.

GAME ONE

How it Happened

The Pirates got on the board first with a Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) RBI single in the third.
The Hall would add to their lead in the fifth with another run-scoring single, this time off the bat of Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.).
The Huskies would try to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh with a run, but Carr would shut the door to finish the one-run complete game in the circle.

Notes and Numbers

The Pirates outhit the Huskies 6-5.
Carr tossed seven innings of five-hit ball, only surrendering one run while striking out five in the process. Carr earned her fourth win of the season.
Barracato and Lela Allen (Phoenix, Ariz.) each had two hits with Allen picking up her third two-bagger of the season.

UConn 6 – Seton Hall 2
How it Happened

The Huskies got on the board first with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
The Pirates would tie things up with a Carr two-run single in the third to knot the ballgame at 2.
UConn would add three runs in the third to swell their lead before tacking on another run in the fourth to go up 6-2.

Notes and Numbers

Carr led the Pirates with two hits while Kiana Tate (Las Vegas, Nev.), Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) and Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) also got into the hit column.
Cadyn Ehrenberg (Fremont, Wisc.) pitched four innings of relief only giving up one earned run while striking out two.

What's Next
The Pirates will round out the regular season with a series at Providence starting on Saturday.
