NOTES YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Seton Hall is coming off of a 2021 campaign where it went 16-11 in the BIG EAST and made its 10th consecutive appearance at the BIG EAST Championship, the longest active streak in the conference.
- The Pirates are led by sophomore Will Gale (Scoth Plains, N.J.), was arguably Seton Hall's top performer against BIG EAST teams last season in getting on base, stealing bases and hitting for average.
- Gale stole 10 of his 16 bases and hit a team-best .381 in conference play and his overall batting average of .317 was the seventh-highest in the conference.
- The Pirates also return veteran infielders Steve Grober (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Alex Clyde (Old Tappan, N.J.) as well as junior outfielder Devin Hack (Somerville, N.J.) and graduate student Collin Sheehan (Doylestown, Pa.) behind the plate.
- The Pirates' rotation this weekend features two seniors and graduate student in Hunter Waldis, who tied for second on the team with 15 appearances and struck out 20 batters in 15.2 innings pitched last season.
- Head coach Rob Sheppard enters his 19th season at the helm of the Seton Hall baseball program where he has registered 471 career victories.
- The Pirates are 11-58 all-time vs. North Carolina and last played the Tar Heels to open the 2015 season.Â
