Pirates' Late Rally Not Enough In Game Two At Florida

Gainesville, Fla. - The Seton Hall baseball team scored six runs in the top of the ninth in the second game of a doubleheader at No. 11 Florida but the Pirates couldn't extend the game as the Gators came out on top, 11-9, on Saturday evening. Florida topped The Hall, 16-4, in game one of the doubleheader.

Freshman Pat D'Amico (Lynnfield, Mass.) went 5-for-10 over the two games and junior Oscar Murray (Brentwood, Calif.) had four RBI on a grand slam, his first home run as a Pirate.

How It Happened
In game two, the Pirates struck first in the top of the first on a bases clearing triple by Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) that plated two runs. Florida plated a run in the home half of the inning but Gale struck again in the top of the third on an RBI single that made it 3-1 Seton Hall.

Florida responded in the bottom of the third with four runs and later scored four runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to take a commanding 11-3 lead. In the top of the ninth, the Pirates staged a rally. Seton Hall had the bases loaded when D'Amico put the ball in play that the third baseman booted, allowing Steve Grober (Hillsborough, N.J.) to score from the third. The next batter was Murray who sent the first pitch that he saw over the right field wall that cut the Florida lead to three, 11-9. But it wouldn't be enough as the Gators recorded the final two outs to take game two.
