The 112th all-time meeting on the diamond between Seton Hall and Rutgers will go down tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium at Owen T. Carroll Field.
It's been five years since these two teams last squared off when the Pirates beat the Scarlet Knights in Piscataway on April 18, 2017 (9-6) and in South Orange on April 19, 2017 (10-9).
The Pirates are 9-9 this season at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium and have won their last four non-conference home games.
Seton Hall is coming off a complete performance in an 11-2 win over Georgetown on Sunday.
Junior Jonathan Luders (Lynnfield, Mass.) hit .524 (11-for-21) with seven RBI and three runs scored in a 3-2 week for Seton Hall this past week.
He went 4-four-4 on the basepaths, reached base in 13 of his 23 plate appearances, didn't strikeout and didn't commit an error in 18 fielding chances at shortstop.
The Pirates have seen some strong performances out of their bullpen recently, most notably freshman Daniel Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.) who has allowed only one run in his 10 innings spanning four relief appearances.
Sophomore Drew Conover (Pittsgrove, N.J.) hasn't allowed a run and has struck out nine batters in his last 7.2 inning pitched spanning four appearances.
In his first game back since March 29, senior Justin Scotto (Tinton Falls, N.J.) went 2-for-5 with a solo home run on Sunday in the 11-2 win over Georgetown.
Head coach Rob Sheppard has 484 career victories, the second-most in program history behind his father Mike Sheppard, Sr. (998).
