SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – After averaging 8.8 runs per game over the prior six contests, the Seton Hall baseball team was limited to just four hits and was shut out by Georgetown, 4-0, in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Â
Seton Hall starter Daniel Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.) had a solid outing, allowing only two earned runs over four innings, but single runs in the first three innings proved to be the difference.
Â
Freshman Ryan Reich (Selinsgrove, Pa.) was dominant, tossing three innings of hitless relief with four strikeouts and only one walk.Â
Â
THE GAME:
Georgetown loaded the bases with no outs to start the game, but Frontera did a fantastic job of limiting the damage to just one run, which was scored on a double play groundout. A one-out RBI triple doomed the Pirates in the second inning, and Georgetown made it 3-0 on a sacrifice fly in the top of the third.
Â
The Pirates appeared poised to bounce back in the bottom of the third, loading the bases with just one out, but a strikeout and groundout ended the threat and stranded three Pirates on base. The Hall never got another runner into scoring position for the rest of the game.
