Indianapolis, Ind. – Olivia Gilbert (Johnston, R.I.) and Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) each drove in two runs while Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) turned in another solid start in the circle as the Pirates took down Butler, 6-3, for their third straight conference series win.

How it Happened
The Pirates got the bats working early, scoring five runs across the first three innings to gain the early edge. Gilbert got the scoring started with an RBI groundout in the top of the first inning which allowed Hill to score. One inning later, a pair of RBI singles from Kelsey Carr (Ridgewood, N.Y.) and Katey Brennan (Yardley, Pa.) stretched the Seton Hall lead to 3-0.

In the third, the Pirates would bring two more runs across to score. With two outs and nobody on, back-to-back errors from the Bulldogs' defense kept the inning alive. Hill stepped in and lined a two-run single to right field to make it a 5-0 Seton Hall lead.

Babik cruised through the first four innings without allowing a base hit and surrendering just one walk. In the fifth, Butler used some small ball to cut into the deficit. A pair of successful squeeze plays brought home the first two runs for the home side, and an RBI groundout later in the frame brought the Bulldogs back within two.

In the seventh, Gilbert would knock in her second run of the game and give the Pirates some cushion with an RBI single. Kyra Kreuscher (Great River, N.Y.) who worked a clean sixth, was able to slam the door shut by leaving two runners on in the seventh to finish off the win.

News & Notes

Hill went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, picking up her eighth multi-hit and third three-hit game of the season.
Gilbert extended her on-base streak to 20 consecutive games.
Brennan went 3-for-5 at the plate for the first three-hit game of her career.
Kreuscher earned her second save of the season, working two scoreless innings in relief.

What's Next
The Pirates will go for the sweep on Saturday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
