Christopher Hurls Gem as Pirates Defeat Brown, 3-1

South Orange, N.J. – Mason Christopher earned the victory by tossing six scoreless innings and allowing just two hits as the Pirates took the rubber match of their weekend series against Brown, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
Christopher got into a bit of trouble early before settling in on the mound, allowing a walk and single in the top of the first with one out. The lefty was able to bare down and set down the next two hitters with a strikeout and a line out to evade an early deficit. Christopher's offense would then spot him a lead in the second, as a well-executed double steal with runners at the corners allowed Ty Acker to score from third.
Christopher was stellar after being spotted the lead, allowing just one hit and three baserunners over the final four innings of his outing. That one hit came to lead off the fifth inning on a bunt single, but was quickly erased on a 6-4-3 double play started by Tommy Manzo at short.
The Hall would tack on some insurance runs in the later innings. Magnus Krieger, making his season debut, brought home the second Seton Hall run in the sixth on an RBI single to left which scored Gabe Cavazzoni. In the seventh, a sacrifice fly from Aidan Sengenberger allowed Aiden Dill to score and give Seton Hall a 3-0 advantage.
Brown's bats were quiet all day, but the visitors mounted a threat in the eighth. After loading the bases against Stephen Curry, a hit batsman brought home the Bears' first run and put the tying run into scoring position. Ryan Reich was called in from the bullpen and shut the potential rally down, striking out Christian Butera to strand the bases loaded. Reich would then strike out the side in the ninth to put a punctuation mark on the Pirate win.

The Hall continues its homestand on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when it welcomes Wagner for a midweek non-conference tilt.
