How it Happened
After Pirate starter Steven Svenson worked around a jam in the top of the first, his offense spotted him an early lead in the bottom half. After Aiden Dill reached on an error and stole second to lead off the frame, Gabe Cavazzoni doubled him home to give Seton Hall an early 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Ryan Frontera did the same by doubling down the right field line to bring home Aidan Sengenberger from first.

After retiring the side in order in the second, Svenson surrendered his first run of the game in the third on a sacrifice fly to center. However, the Preseason BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year would limit the damage there, keeping the Pride bats silent for the remainder of his five-inning outing.
In the bottom of the fifth, Sengenberger added to The Hall's lead with an RBI single to left. Again with a two-run advantage, the Pirates called upon Derek Benzinger to navigate them to a win. The graduate student worked a clean sixth, but Hofstra got to him in the seventh for three runs to take the lead, 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Seton Hall answered right back. Productive outs were the name of the game, as Dill laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Jake Lopez and Tommy Manzo into scoring position. Cavazzoni then grounded out to shortstop, allowing Lopez to score the tying run.
In the eighth, Seton Hall would vault itself back into the lead for good. After Ty Acker reached on an error and Nick Tomasetto singled, a base hit from Scrivanic brought home Acker and gave the Pirates a 5-4 edge. That would prove to be enough, as John Higgins struck out two in a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his sixth save of the season.
