Louisville, Ky. – Tommy Manzo had two hits and an RBI as the Seton Hall baseball team dropped its series finale at Louisville, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon.
How it Happened
The Cardinals took an early advantage, plating runs in the second and third innings to hold a 2-0 lead. Despite the two runs, Seton Hall starter Mason Christopher was able to evade further damage in each inning, including stranding two runners in scoring position to end the second.
Louisville would tack on insurance tallies in the fifth thanks to a two-run homer which doubled its lead. After the Cardinals added a fifth run in the sixth, Seton Hall would get one back in the seventh. After walks from Ryan Frontera and Ryan Strnad put two aboard for the Pirates with one out, Manzo chopped a single into left field to put The Hall on the board.
The Cardinals would get that run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Seton Hall would once again answer in the eighth. With runners at first and second, the Pirates executed a double steal with Aiden Dill stealing third and Aidan Sengenberger taking second. The throw went down to second base and sailed into center field, allowing Dill to come home with the second Pirate run of the day.
