EMERSON, GA. - Sophomore Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored the winning run in the top of the 12 inning as the Seton Hall baseball team rallied to defeat Savannah State, 4-3, in 12 innings in its first game of the Perfect Game Spring Swing on Friday.
With two outs in the top of the 12th inning, Mike Caputo (Morganville, N.J.) hit a grounder to third base, but Tiger third baseman Cole Bruce couldn't field it cleanly and Dadona scored the go-ahead run.
Seton Hall (7-6) starter Shane McCarthy (Fair Haven, N.J.) turned in a strong effort in the no decision giving up three earned runs over eight innings, while striking out a career-high 11 batters and walking four.
Turning Point:
With one out, senior Zack Weigel (Oak Park, Ill.) reached first on an error. After a ground out by Derek Jenkins (Annandale, N.J.) advanced him to second, Joe Poduslenko (Glen Mills, Pa.) delivered a two-out RBI single to score Weigel with the tying run and force extra innings.
