QUEENS, N.Y. – Senior Mike Caputo (Morganville, N.J.) went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, but the Seton Hall baseball team fell at St. John's, 9-2, on Friday.
St. John's got to Seton Hall starter Shane McCarthy (Fair Haven, N.J.) right away, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Josh Shaw hit a two-out, bases-clearing double to left field to give the Red Storm at 3-0 lead.
Trailing 4-0, the Pirates appeared poised to cut into the Red Storm lead in the top of the third, but they left the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the third inning, St. John's offense went right back to work, erupting for four more runs, aided by a pair of Seton Hall errors. When the smoke cleared, the Red Storm had a commanding 8-0 advantage.
Inside the Numbers:
- Senior Jackson Martin (Collegeville, Pa.) went 2-for-4 with a double.
- Sophomore Sebastiano Santorelli (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a pinch-hit RBI single in the ninth inning.

- Freshman Corey Sawyer (Kearny, N.J.) allowed one run over a career-high three innings pitched.
