Prendergast Tosses Birthday Shutout of Creighton

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Zach Prendergast (Horsham, Pa.) tossed his first career complete-game shutout as the Seton Hall baseball team defeated Creighton, 1-0, in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
Prendergast was brilliant scattering seven hits, striking out seven and walking only one batter in 106 pitches to improve to 6-2 on the season. The career-best performance taking place on Seton Hall's Senior Day, which also happened to be Prendergast's 22nd birthday.
The Pirates generated all of the offense Prendergast needed in the bottom of the third inning. Senior Jackson Martin (Collegeville, Pa.) doubled down the right field line to lead off. With one out, junior Ryan Ramiz (Freehold, N.J.) singled up the middle to plate Martin with the game's lone run.
Inside the Numbers:
- Both senior Mikael-Ali Mogues (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Matt Toke (Three Bridges, N.Y.) reached base twice with a single and a walk.
- Both Seton Hall and Creighton left seven men on base.
- Prendergast's start today was the 37th of his career, which moves him into sole possession of fifth place on the Seton Hall career starts list.
- With today's doubleheader, Seton Hall's team earned run average has lowered to 3.54, a season-best.
- Toke recorded his first career stolen base.
- All three games in this series against Creighton were one-run games.
- This was the 11th game decided by two or fewer runs in the 16-game series between Seton Hall and Creighton.
- Seton Hall improves to 4-12 all-time against Creighton.
