Hood brought the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Seton Hall got on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning. Sophomore Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.) walked to lead off and stole second base. Junior Sebastiano Santorelli (Tuckahoe, N.Y.) followed with an RBI single through the right side to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. With one out, Hood missed a two-run home run by one foot, instead doubling off the top of the left field wall, which scored Santorelli with The Hall's second run.
Santorelli doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning, and senior Rob Dadona (Staten Island, N.Y.) drove him in with a two-out RBI single to put the Pirates in front, 3-0.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, junior Nick Dabrio (Jackson, N.J.) doubled down the left field line. Hood followed with an RBI single up the middle for the fourth Pirate run of the afternoon.
Fairleigh Dickinson loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh against Layne, Jr., but Pirate relievers Ryan McLinskey (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Corey Sawyer (Kearny, N.J.) were able to limit the Knights' damage to just two runs. Sawyer earned his first save of the season by getting the final out.
