Seton Hall starter Noah Thompson (Frisco, Texas) tossed the first two scoreless innings, followed by Tyler Burnham (East Brunswick, N.J.), who tossed the next 3.2 innings, then Nick Payero (Monroe, N.J.), who threw 1.1 innings, followed by Hunter Waldis (Far Hills, N.J.), who pitched a hitless eighth inning, and finally Sean Miller (Newton, N.J.) finished the outing with a hitless ninth.
Dana provided all the needed offense, and more, reaching base four times. The third baseman went 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs.
What Happened:
After getting shutout in the series opener, the Pirates wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard today. Jerry Hunzinger (Staten Island, N.Y.) walked to lead off the game and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tyler Shedler-McAvoy (Allendale, N.J.). After Christian Del Castillo (Miami, Fla.) reached on an infield single, Dana singled to center field to drive in the Pirates' first run of the series. Matt Toke (Three Bridges, N.J.) followed with an RBI fielder's choice to put The Hall up, 2-0.
In the top of the second inning, the Pirates' offense blew the game open. With one out, Connor Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa.) walked and advanced to second on a single by Clyde. Huntzinger singled through the right side, driving in Hood with the Pirates' third run. Shedler-McAvoy then reached on an error by Iona's second baseman, which allowed Clyde to score. After a double steal with two outs, Dana delivered a two-RBI single through the left side to extend The Hall's advantage to 6-0.
Dana drove in his fourth run of the game in the top of the eighth inning.
