Dana drives in two and collects three hits in the offensive affair

Senior Tyler Burnham (East Brunswick, N.J.) started the game for The Hall (2-6) and struck out four batters in five innings of work.

The Pirates struck first in the top of the first inning thanks to an RBI single from and a three-run home run off the bat of Holdorf that gave Seton Hall a 4-0 lead. The Golden Flashes chipped away at the deficit by plating a run in the home half of the first and two runs in the third.

With Seton Hall leading only by a run, 4-3, Dana delivered again with an RBI base hit that extended the lead to 5-3. A sacrifice bunt RBI by sophomore Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) made it a 6-3 ball game in the sixth inning but Kent State responded with three runs in the sixth and four runs in the fourth that put them ahead, 10-6.

Dana would score on an error in the eighth that made it 10-7 but it wouldn't be enough as the Golden Flashes took the series opener.

The Pirates are back in action on Saturday with the second game of the series starting at 1 p.m.
