
Pirates Play Host to Red Storm for Weekend Series

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall softball team will host a weekend series with BIG EAST foe St. John's at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field. The Pirates are scheduled to play a double header on Saturday before playing a single game on Sunday against the Red Storm. Both days are set for a noon first pitch.
LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates are coming off a midweek setback at Fordham, 6-0. In their only conference action of the season thus far, the Pirates dropped two-of-three against Butler last weekend that served as their BIG EAST opener. Sophomore Shelby Smith (Friendswood, Texas) earned the win for the Pirates on Sunday after 5 scoreless innings of relief. Overall, on the weekend, Smith threw 13.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and went 3-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs to net her a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

- The Red Storm is coming off a high scoring affair against Hofstra, a loss 11-10, on Wednesday. The Johnnies were swept by DePaul in their BIG EAST opening series.
- At the plate, St. John's is led by Marissa Rizzi who is currently hitting at a .500 clip with three home runs and 10 RBIs. Peyton Cody shares the team lead in long balls with Rizzi but has driven in a team-leading 12 runs while hitting .394.
- The Red Storm lead the all-time series 57-25 and have won 16 of the last 17 dating back to 2014.
- With a double in the third against Fordham, Janae Barracato (Hempstead, N.Y.) reached 43 career two baggers which ties her with Alexis Walkden for second place in program history.
- After going 2-for-4 on Wednesday, Hailey Arteaga (Upland, Calif.) now has three, two-hit games in a row dating back to last weekend's series against Butler.
- Darby Pandolfo (Massapequa, N.Y.) picked up her team-leading fifth double on the season. Pandolfo now sits alone in seventh place on the all-time Seton Hall list with 36 career doubles.
