The Pirates tallied seven hits but had trouble advancing runners all game. The Tar Heels also took advantage of four Seton Hall errors.

Making his first career appearance, freshman Daniel Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.) had a bounce back inning of relief with a scoreless frame in the sixth but an 11-run seventh inning put the game out of reach.
