South Orange, N.J. – Freshman Lauren Caye (Pittsburgh, Pa. )'s two-run home run in the fourth put the Seton Hall softball team over Fordham, 5-3 on Wednesday at Mike Sheppard, Sr., field. Sydney Babik (Gilbert, Ariz.) picked up the win in relief as the Pirates improved to 5-4 on the season and 1-0 at home.

How it Happened

The Rams would get on the board first with a single run in the first before adding two more on a home run in the third to build a 3-0 lead.
Taylor Hill (Little Falls, N.J.) doubled to lead off the third before Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) singled her home for the Pirates' first run of the ball game. Wingo would then come around to score after a wild pitch and Rams' throwing error plated her from second to make it a 3-2 game after three.
Trailing by one in the fourth with a runner on, Caye hit a two-run, go-ahead home run to center field to make it a 4-3 ballgame.
Hill would add an insurance run in the home-half of the sixth with a solo home run to right-center for what would eventually become a 5-3 final.

Notes and Numbers

The home run for Caye is her team-leading fourth of the season and fourth in three games.
Babik moved to 3-1 in the circle this season, picking up the win with four scoreless innings with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed.
Baylee Allender (Rosharon, Texas) picked up her fourth double of the season in the victory.
The Pirates outhit the Rams 8-4.

What's Next
The Pirates will have some time off before heading west to take part in the Libby Matson Tournament hosted by Pacific from March 4-6. Seton Hall will play five games over the course of three days against the likes of Pacific, Nevada and Idaho State.
