Stillwater, Okla. - Graduate student Collin Sheehan (Doylestown, Pa.) hit a game-tying, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and the Pirates plated a run in the ninth but it wouldn't be enough as No. 7 Oklahoma State got past the Seton Hall baseball team, 6-4, on Sunday afternoon.

Senior David Haberman (Morristown, N.J.) went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Pirates while senior Brennan O'Neill (Morristown, N.J.) gave up two runs in four innings of work.

How It Happened

The Cowboys led entering the bottom of the fifth inning when sophomore reliever Zane Probst (Mill Hall, Pa.) came out of the bullpen and tossed a shutdown, 1-2-3 inning. The Pirates put two runners on in the sixth but couldn't draw closer while Probst worked another scoreless inning that kept Oklahoma State in check.

Leading off the top of the seventh was redshirt sophomore Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) who reached first base on a dropped strike three. Gale then proceeded to steal second and third before Haberman hit a sharp grounder to third that allowed Gale to score, putting the Pirates on the board. Follwing a walk by senior Steve Grober (Hillsborough, N.J.) Sheehan stepped to the plate and launched an 0-1 pitch over the right field fence, tying up the game at 3-3.

Probst continued to do his job by keeping the Cowboys off the scoreboard in the home half of the seventh. The Pirates were retired in order in the eighth and Oklahoma State did damage in the bottom half, taking a 6-3 lead on a three-run home run. Despite Haberman driving in Gale again, this time on an RBI single in the top of the ninth that made it 6-4, the Pirates couldn't extend the game.

Seton Hall will have its home opener on Wednesday, March 23 at 4 p.m. as the Pirates host NJIT at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium at Owen T. Carroll Field.
