Pirates Fall To Creighton On Saturday

Omaha, Neb. — Sophomore Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.) went 2-for-4 with a double and Junior Devin Hack (Somerville, N.J.) stayed hot with an RBI double but the Seton Hall baseball team didn't have an answer for the Creighton offense as the Bluejays defeated the Pirates, 14-1, on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Mark McNelly (Limerick, Pa.) scored a run and went 1-for-3 for the Pirates. Redshirt junior Joe Cinnella (Mahwah, N.J.) held the Bluejays scoreless and in two innings of relief.
How It Happened
Creighton scored early and often, driving in two runs in the bottom of the first inning and five runs in the second.
The Bluejays were in control with a 9-0 lead in the top of the fifth when the Pirates got on the scoreboard. After reaching on a fielder's choice, McNelly stood on first base with Hack at the plate. Hack ripped the first pitch he saw to the left center field gap and McNelly scored all the way from first base.
Cinnella came out of the bullpen in the bottom of the seventh and blanked Creighton in that frame and the eighth. Despite his efforts, the Bluejays' lead was too much to overcome.
