Frontera tosses 4.2 innings of scoreless relief
Bowie, Md. - Despite a strong effort by freshman Daniel Frontera (Red Bank, N.J.) out of the bullpen that helped keep the Seton Hall baseball team in the game, the Pirates couldn't get much going offensively as the Pirates fell to Georgetown in the series opener, 4-0.
Junior Christopher Shine (South Plainfeild, N.J.) struck out six in a start that saw him go 3.1 innings. Junior Mark McNelly (Limerick, Pa.) went 2-for-3 for the Pirates.Â
How It Happened
The Hall was able to put the lead off runner on in the second, third and fourth innings but couldn't get a run across. In the top of the second, senior Steve Grober (Hillsborough, N.J.) led off the frame with a double to right center and moved to third base after a fly out by junior Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.). Despite the runner on third, Seton Hall couldn't get on the board.
The Hoyas went ahead on a two-run home run in the bottom of the third and added two more runs to their lead in the fourth before Frontera came on in relief with one out and retired the final two batters of the inning. Fronteras continued to keep Georgetown scoreless and he posted a 1-2-3 inning in the sixth but it wouldn't be enough as the Seton Hall offense was stymied the rest of the game.Â
