The Hall bounces back from a 4-0 deficit to collect its second victory in as many days.
Â
With the game tied at five in the seventh inning, sophomore Pat D'Amico (Lynnfield, Mass.) doubled over the head of the right fielder to score Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) with the go-ahead run. Later in the inning, Staus Pokrovsky (Pittsgrove, N.J.) provided the insurance with a two-run RBI single to give The Hall an 8-5 lead.
Â
Junior Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.) led the Pirates with three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Gale and Pokrovsky had two hits and two RBIs apiece. Alex Clyde (Old Tappan, N.J.) was 2-for-4 with a triple.
Â
How It Happened:
The first five Seahawks reached base in the top of the second inning, and a bases-clearing double gave Wagner an early 4-0 lead.Â
Â
The Pirates started chipping away in the third as an RBI single by Sylvester and an RBI groundout by Gale cut Wagner's lead in half, 4-2. With two outs in the fourth, Clyde belted an RBI single through the right side, and Sylvester followed with a run-scoring bloop-double to tie the score at four. After a Devin Hack (Somerville, N.J.) walk, Gale beat out an infield single, allowing Clyde to score the go-ahead run.
Â
Wagner scored on an error in the fifth to tie the game at five, but the Pirates had the last laugh in the seventh. With Gale on second and one out, D'Amico doubled to right field to put The Hall ahead, 6-5. After Max Viera (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) singled and stole second base, Pokrovsky added the insurance with a hard single to left that scored both D'Amico and Viera.
