The teams combined for eight home runs and 38 hits.
Â
With the wind howling from right to left field, the teams combined for eight home runs with Viera, Jedier Hernandez (Trenton, N.J.), Oscar Murray (Brentwood, Calif.) and Mark McNelly (Limerick, Pa.) all hitting long-balls for The Hall. With the score tied at nine, however, ETSU put the game away with an eight-run seventh inning.
Â
Viera again kick-started the offense, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base and two runs scored. Clyde was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Murray had a team-best three RBIs with a home run and a double.
Â
Hernandez, Devin Hack (Somerville, N.J.) and Zack Sylvester (Montville, N.J.) also had two hits for The Hall which belted out a season-high 17 hits.
Â
How It Happened:
Trailing 9-4, the Pirates rallied in the middle innings. Viera belted a solo shot to left field to lead off the top of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, The Hall put up a huge inning to tie the game at nine. After Will Gale (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and Viera singled, Staus Pokrovsky (Pittsgrove, N.J.) scored two runs with a single up the middle to cut The Hall's deficit to 9-7. Hernandez followed with a single, and then Clyde ripped a triple to right-center field to score two more and tie the score at nine.
Â
With the score tied at nine, eight of the first nine ETSU batters reached base in the seventh inning. The big blast was a three-run home run by ETSU's Ashton King, his third of the day giving him eight RBI in the game.
Â
McNelly came off the bench and blasted a solo shot in the ninth, but the Pirates couldn't get closer.
