WGolf Takes on Brown Bear Invite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Seton Hall women’s golf team will return to the links on Sunday for the Brown Bear Invitational, April 14-15, at the par-72, 6,012 yard, Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, Rhode Island. The famed Donald Ross designed course on the Narragansett Bay was the recent host of the USGA Women’s Amateur Championship. In addition to Seton Hall and host Brown, competing teams include: Boston U., Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Lehigh, LIU, Quinnipiac, Rutgers, Sacred Heart, Siena, St. John’s and Yale. This will be the first time in its three-year history that Seton Hall will compete in this event. The Pirates however, will have to do so without one of their lineup mainstays. Junior Christina Cantú (Houston, Texas) injured her wrist in the final round at Georgetown last week and will miss this weekend’s event. Seton Hall will bring Hannah Basalone (Brea, Calif.), Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.), Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio), Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) and Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) to Rhode Island. Juniors Samantha Massei (Allen, Texas) and Haley Van Es (Granger, Ind.) will compete as individuals. “It’s unfortunate that we won’t have Christina this weekend, but I’m confident in Karlie’s ability to step in the lineup and pick up the slack,” said Head Coach Sara Doell. “I like the lineup we’re bringing and look forward to doing some damage.” “We’re still a young team and continue to mature tournament by tournament,” Doell added. “This is good, competitive event and the perfect segue to the season-ending BIG EAST Championship.” Tee off-times begin on Sunday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m., with the final tee-off time at 2:30 p.m. Monday's final round on April 15 is scheduled for a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Play is expected to conclude by 2:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony immediately following.
